One of the most fun ways to get a peek into another person’s life is to experience their city like a local would -- with a homebase in a their space. LifeSwap takes the fun of living how a stranger does one step further. We’ve teamed up with AirBnB to give you a taste of what it’s like to step into someone else’s shoes. We can safely say that this is the best giveaway of any SXSW party around.
#Backstories is all about bringing the Parisian tech & creative community together, sharing stories & beers, the good old fashioned way.
Thinking about staying at home to netflix and chill this April 15th?
You can wash your hair some other night amigo. Put some pants on, call your friends and get yourself down to the family headquarters because backstories’ back - ALRIGHT!
Join us for some inspiring but not-too serious talks from a diverse group of people getting out there and living their best lives, followed by a concert and beers - what more could you ask for?!
You would ask that wouldn’t you. We like to ask the ‘why’ question too. In fact, Backstories is all about the ‘why’ - asking different people from across the start-up scene in Paris and beyond to get up in front of you folks and share their why, their raison d’être, their backstory!
Wow, that sounds personal. Well hey, buddy it just might be but won’t that make a nice change from the usual talks from the same old speakers, singing the same old tune?
We believe in the power of sharing diverse experiences and gaining from different insights and perspectives, which is why you'll only find fresh faces and unique profiles sharing their story on stage.
So come along, listen to some stories, ask some questions, stick around afterwards and meet some new people over a beer (or two), expect the unexpected. We’ll see you there!
ENTERPRISE MARKETING MANAGER, SNIPS
Started my career in Product Marketing for an IaaS platform in London, transitioned to be the Global Head of Marketing for Startupbootcamp where I worked with over 200 founders and then joined a startup to run growth. I moved to Paris about 3 years ago and worked as Head of Growth for Alkemics. Now I'm running all B2B marketing for Snips. I also launched the first side events for the guys at Slush (called Slush Small Talks) for a little over a year on the side. I am interested in mental health in startups and company culture that drives a positive work-life balance..
SENIOR ADVISOR, DEFENSE FORCE
Rachael has recently moved to Paris from Wellington, New Zealand, where she was working as a Senior Advisor for the New Zealand Defence Force. While if she told you all of the details of her work, she’d have to kill you, some highlights have been - building a compliance function and developing processes for an organisation of over 15,000 people, negotiating data sharing agreements, meeting Ministers and Oversight bodies (but not Jacinda) as well as organising speaker-events on behalf of the Women in the Defence and Security Community.

Fried Squid begins as a terrific human adventure, led by Carole, Grace and Lau, a soulful all-female trio, full of fresh recklessness.
Loaded with their guitars and ukulele, they have bewitched the Web and live stages.
